STINTINO

Stintino, situato a Nord-Ovest della Sardegna nel promontorio di Capo Falcone, a circa 50 Km da Sassari è considerato una sorta di paradiso per le sue bellezze naturali. Il mare della spiaggia della Pelosa è uno dei più belli d''Italia per il suo colore azzurro e la limpidezza dell''acqua difficilmente riscontrabili anche in Sardegna. In estate il paese si popola di turisti che possono trovare a Stintino i servizi necessari, ma anche apprezzare una semplice passeggiata in un paese che ha saputo mantenere il fascino del vecchio borgo marinaro, coniugandolo con le strutture essenziali necessarie all''alto flusso turistico. Si accede da qualsiasi parte della Sardegna recandosi a Porto Torres, dalla circonvallazione (per chi arriva da Sassari) alla periferia della città, oppure verso il centro, poco prima del porto (a sinistra, cartello indicatore) si raggiunge la strada provinciale per Stintino.

Nel tragitto si supera l’area della centrale termica ed eolica di Fiumesanto; nei pressi, la grande e bella spiaggia di Ezzi Mannu; accanto, lo stagno di Pilo. Procedendo oltre la borgata di Pozzo San Nicola, si giunge nei dintorni di Stintino; in direzione nord, si vedono a destra (est) la torre Saline e la tonnara Saline, presso la spiaggia Saline; la tonnara, al più importante del settentrione isolano, fu chiusa nel 1975; successivamente venne restaurata e trasformata in villaggio turistico. Proseguendo sulla provinciale, si giunge al borgo. Due profonde insenature formano i suoi suggestivi porticcioli, sempre affollati di imbarcazioni; graziose le semplici casette intonacate della parte antica. Museo della Tonnara nel Portu Mannu (insenatura nord). A nord del paese si apre l’incantevole Rada dei Fornelli, chiusa dalle rupi di Capo Falcone e dalla grande Isola Asinara; si individuano facilmente l’ampia e piatta isola Piana e l’isoletta della torre Pelosa, con una grande torre spagnola; la splendida visuale è arricchita dagli ineguagliabili colori del mare lungo la spiaggia della Pelosa di sabbia candida, una delle più famose dell’isola.

Stintino is located in the North-Wester part of Sardinia on the promontory of Capo Falcone , at about 50 km from Sassari . It is considered a kind of paradise for its natural beauties. The sea of the beach La Pelosa is one of the most beautiful in Sardinia for the crystal clear colours of the waters. In Summer the village fills up with tourists who breath the suggestive atmosphere of the old fishing hamlet and find the necessary facilities and services.

Every part of Sardinia you are coming from you have to pass through Porto Torres to reach Stintino. Road signals bring you to the right way either you are coming from the airport of Alghero and from the port in Porto Torres (road signal on the left). When you are on the way, go over the thermic and aeolic area of Fiumasanto ; nearby there is the wide and beautiful beach Ezzi Mannu ; next to the pond Pilo . Go further on the village Pozzo San Nicola , there are on the right (East) the tower and the tunny-fishing establishment Saline near the Beach Saline. Going straight on you arrive at Stintino. Two deep inlets create its striking harbours, always crowded of pleasure-boats; very beautiful the plastered houses of the ancient part of the hamlet. In the Portu Mannu (North inlet) there is the Museo della Tonnara (tunny-fishing museum). On the North coast of the village stands the enchanting Rada di Fornelli , enclosed by the cliffs of Capo Falcone and the Isola Asinara; the wide and plate Isola Piana and the islet of the Spanish tower Pelosa stand between the beach La Pelosa and the Isola Asinara; the view is enhanced by the incomparable colours of the sea along the white sandy beach La Pelosa, one of the most renowned beach in Sardinia.
